Profile of the
President
Naota
(Nate) Hamaguchi is President and Chief Executive Officer of JCI,
Inc. With its offices and partners all over the world, JCI specializes
in assisting companies in conducting business in Japan and other countries
and in assisting companies in starting and managing new/venture
business on a global basis. Nate is also Co-Founder and Managing
Director of the Hamaguchi Institute of Business and Economic Research
(HIBER) and currently serves as Advisor/Board Member for several
venture capital firms and venture companies in the U.S. and Japan.
He was previously Investment Advisor to Japan for the Japan External
Trade Organization (JETRO)(Japanese government-related trade and
investment organization), Advisor/Director of Japanese Business
Services with Price Waterhouse, and Japanese Practice Coordinator/Manager-Mergers
and Acquisitions (M&A) with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Nate
has been a consultant/advisor for more than 1,000 Japanese and non-Japanese
organizations. He has assisted numerous
Japanese companies in establishing operations in the U.S., non-Japanese
companies in establishing operations in Japan, and Japanese and
non-Japanese companies in forming business alliances on a global
basis.
He
recieved a Bachelor of Business Administration from Soka University
(Japan), a Master of Science in Management and Administrative Sciences
from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and studied finance
and international business in doctoral programs at the University
of Pennsylvania as well as UTD.
Nate
presently serves as Board
Member for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Texas (one of
Texas' largest non-profit organizations), and as Chairman of the Board
for the U.S.-Japan Institute of Management & Technology (UJIMT).
Previously, he served as Advisor/Board Member for the SUN &
STAR 1996 (the largest Japanese festival in the U.S.), Chairman
of Finance Committee and Board Member for the International Trade
Association of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area (ITADFW), as Secretary,
Treasurer, Chairman of Speakers Committee, Chairman of Commerce
Committee, and Board Member for the Japan American Society of Dallas/Fort
Worth (JASDFW), as Chairman of Public Relations Committee, Treasurer,
and Auditor for DJA, as International Marketing Committee Member
for the North Texas Commission, and as Advisor on International
Business Development (Pacific Rim) for the Greater Dallas Chamber
of Commerce(GDCC), and as Board Member of Broadband Association (Japan).
He
has published articles regarding accounting, finance, international
business and marketing in journals and presented papers at international
conferences. He has been a contributing writer/columnist for several Japanese
and U.S. newspapers, magazines and publications, including the
U.S. Japan Business News, the U.S. Front Line, the
Nikkei Venture and the Venture Club. He recently published
books on the theme of CFO, "CFO-Chief Financial Officer"(coauthor with
Mr.Kotaro Anjo, President and CEO, ANJO International,Inc.) and "Introduction
to CFO-40 Answers to Success"both published by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc.
